Founder, Owner & Senior Stylist
Also known as Gill, she own’s and run’s HK. Gill has over 15 years of experience and is a busy full-time stylist at HK which means you'll find her on the salon floor most of the time. She’s become a competent colourist in more recent years but enjoys every aspect of hairdressing including hair extensions.
Outside of work Gill plays the violin, loves cooking, walking, nature and animals, she loves horse riding and being with her dog Ruby who still makes the odd appearance at the salon from time to time.
Front of House
What would HK do without Victoria, she’s the organiser of the group and keeps everything and everyone in order. Victoria has been in the industry well over 20 years and even has basic hairdressing training so it’s not unusual to see her blow drying on the salon floor. Her strengths lie behind the desk with admin work and managing the diary but if you’re lucky enough to get her at the shampoo basin, you’re in for a treat.
Victoria has a full social life outside of work with fitness classes and time with family keeping her busy. Despite wishing she was full time; Victoria is part time at HK. Her organisation skills come from being a land lady at two different pubs in her time.
Creative Hair Stylist
The wedding hair queen, Shay is a very creative hair stylist. With a natural talent for hair up dos, she is equally good with her scissors and a tint brush, her colour work is always top quality and her ability to stay calm when working under pressure means she’s the ideal girl for bridal parties.
Shay has two children who keep her very busy so is therefore part time on the salon floor. Being a builder's daughter, she and her husband have taken on renovation projects over the years. She is a very keen, competent skier, a great cook and guess what!! she’s Victorias niece
Creative Hair Stylist
Another raw, natural talent. Zoe is very good when it comes to putting hair up, often getting brides ready, or doing her colleagues hair, nothing is to much trouble for Zoe, she always gives extra. Zoe is our curly hair expert and the only one at present to cut afro Caribbean hair in the salon.
Zoe has a daughter called Lia who has been known to come to the salon and help with the sweeping from time to time. Zoe LOVES Gin and has a collection that could sink a ship (we promise she’s sober at work.)
Louise has been at HK from the very start, she trained with Gill, Jess and Shay at their previous salon and they’ve worked together ever since. Known as Lou in the salon, she’s a sharp member of staff who never puts a foot wrong, often organising group events or birthday collections, she's the one who’s always on the ball. Qualifying in 2004, Lou has many years of experience and does a great bouncy blow dry. Lou can be a quick worker so if you like to be in and out, Lou is the stylist for you.
Lou has one daughter called Bella, she looks just like Lou and when she’s not at school, they enjoy days together as a family. She is part time on the salon floor but as Bella is getting older, Louise has started to extend her hours during the school term time.
Another household name at HK, Jess has been in the industry since 2005. She’s known for packing in the foils and creating beautiful blondes. Also, a fan of using hair extensions, there’s nothing Jess loves more than creating a full and bouncy glam look.
In Jess's time at HK, she has become a mother to her son Roman, and her daughter Sienna which means she is part time but remains flexible and does extra when time allows. HK Nights out have always been fun with Jess around and she’s the first one to the dance floor every time.
Mo is one of our youngest team members although being qualified in every aspect of hairdressing, cutting hair isn’t Mo’s thing. While she loves to assist our stylists with colour work, her passion is based around more creative work. She offers a unique service at HK which involves plaiting brightly coloured synthetic hair extensions into the hair, this is very popular during the school holidays although natural hair colours can also be used for term time, this kind of creative styling is also very popular during the festival season and is for all ages.
Mo is looking to gain knowledge from Shay and Zoe in order to progress with her up dos and wedding hair and would like to learn more about styling afro Caribbean hair. Watch this space, Mo is one talented young lady.
Chloe trained and qualified at HK. Having taken a short break from the salon in 2020, Chloe soon decided HK was the salon for her and it is a better place for it. She is a kind, caring, compassionate and very modest stylist, she takes her time to get things right and is a fantastic colourist, simply check out her work on our Instagram page if you don’t believe me.
Another animal lover, Chloe spends her days off with her dog Narla, or fishing with her dad on the canal banks, she is also a keen horse rider.
Francesca joined the HK team in January 2020 and has slotted in perfectly. She’s a very talented colourist whose knowledge and passion has inspired other stylists in the salon to be even better. Known as Cesca in the salon, she’s up to date with all the latest techniques and is happy to share her knowledge with the team, you never stop learning in our industry and Cesca is a great example of a stylist who is always bettering herself. Cesca is currently looking into advanced colouring courses.
Cesca has just moved into her first house with her boyfriend and their dog, gardening is slowly becoming her new thing.
